Sketchy Background
By DT Ann
When messing …err I mean creating samples for the Inkables day I made a card using a technique that gave me a sketched look, don’t know where it came from, but I liked it so I’m sharing it with you today..
Inkables Big One: Botanical Garden
Large Butterfly from XL Birds & Butterflies (Stamp & Die)
Versafine Clair Nocturne
Start by blending Distress Oxide inks ( Squeezed Lemonade/Picked Raspberry/ Salty Ocean) randomly across the Botanical Garden Inkable… fade out the colours towards the edges…
Wipe your stencil clean & dry, place over your inked image, then turn the inkable (as if turning a book page ) so that it’s “upside down”. Slide across the Inkable with Versafine Clair Nocturne ink to cover the stencil…
Lift & turn the Inkable over again, so it lines up with your previously inked image.. then place carefully over it. Add a piece of copier paper over & press ( I used a brayer) trying not to move the Inkable (you might want to tape it to the surface underneath) ..
Remove the Inkable & leave your image to dry…
On a small piece of card stamp the large butterfly in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.. die cut the image & a few book pages too…
Glue the pages & butterfly together, down the centre.
Add some torn washi tape to your background…
Die cut two square frames (dies from my stash) & glue them to the background & add the butterfly…
Stamp a sentiment straight onto the card… I thought matting & layering it would detract from the main image too much…
Matt & layer onto a 5”x7” card…
Thank you for stopping by… Ann xxx
