Calee CT - Oh Christmas Tree

Hi , this week for my step by step guide I have a simple Christmas card for you .

The first step was to create my background . For this I cut to size (6x6inch) a piece of smooth white card and using two shades of blue distress ink and this D’inkable from set 15 , I created a snow flake pattern using just the centre of the D’inkable.

Next using scraps of catalyst cards from packs #2 and #3 , I cut and created 3 Christmas trees , adding more details and decoration with a white Posca pen .

The background was then added to my card with a mating layer of black and a border doodled with a fine black pen
.

Taking a small snowflake from the Doodle Art Christmas Tree stamp set and Blue Print sketch distress ink snowflakes were randomly added to complete the background design.

The next step was the sentiment for this card . I used this one from the Doodle Art Christmas pud set and it has been stamped and mounted on to black card .

The trees were then glued on to the background and my sentiment added , The final step was to use a watercolour pencil to create a shadow feel around the trees , blending with a little water . This made them stand out from the background and gave them more depth .
Although I have added extra detail to the trees and a shadow around them ,  I think this would make a very effective card even with out the additions .
Thank you for taking a look this week
Happy crafting
Calee
