Sally CT - Flowers in her hair

Hi There! I am loving spending time art journaling at the moment, so here is a double page spread I have been working on, and how it came together. 

 

I began by tearing around one of the Rainbow Thoughts A5 Catalyst Collage papers to fit it into a 5x5" journal. I stuck it to the page using Matte Medium. 

Next, I selected Distress Oxide inks in Seedless Preserves, Worn Lipstick, Prize Ribbon and Carved Pumpkin. Using a damp paint brush I extended her hair from the collage paper across the second page.  

I used the same colours of ink to stamp two of the smaller doodle Art Mandalas over the inked page. 

Whilst the background was drying, I stamped a selection of flowers from Doodle Art Blooming Blooms and Journaling Essentials #4 stamp sets. I coloured them using ecoline and Gelly Roll Moonlight pens and cut them out. 

I attached these to the right hand page using matte medium. 

I also stamped some of the smallest Blooming Blooms flowers in grey versafine Clair ink in the spaces.

I added a sentiment to the page and coloured in the centres of the small flowers using a gelly roll moonlight pen.

Alison CT - Circles

Hi everyone today I'm sharing a step by step guide to creating these mdf artist trading coins as inspiration for Sally's Circle challenge in the Facebook group. The coins themselves are curcles and I've used a circles dinkable as well.

To begin,  I covered the three mdf coins with some left over pieces of A6 greyscale #2 catalyst card. I used a sanding block to neaten the edges.

Then, I placed a part of the circles dinkable, from set 3, on to the coin and used a thin black posca to draw the circles on to the coins. I coloured them with watercolour pencils and a paintbrush. I left them to dry.

Next, using Versafine Clair nocturne ink,  I stamped several of thr flowers from the Doodle Art Blooming Blooms stamp set. I coloured them with the same watercolour pencils and then cut them out. 

I glued them to my coins.

I, then, decided they needed some leaves, so I stamped the small leaf from Journaling Essentials 2, coloured them and cut them out.

I added them to the coins.

Finally, I added a sentiment from Wordy Stickers sheets 1 and 3 black.

Calee CT - Cone Flower Canvas

Hi ,this week I have small canvas  to share with you using a  catalyst collage paper from the A5 Squares and Hearts pack .

This canvas measures 10 x 20 cm , so is quite similar in size to a DL card and this design could easily be used as a card front . I chose this paper from the A5 pack and tore to size leaving some of the canvas to show around the edges .

After gluing the paper on to my canvas I added some stencilling with distress oxides Blueprint sketch and Pine needles using dinkables from sets 12 and 15 .

This paper reminded me a little of patchwork , so using a white gel pen I added some faux Stitching and some heart  doodles . I then broke up the background with some white texture paste using the Big one’s Bakewell Inkable .

Next I stamped out the large cone flower from the Doodle Art Cone flower set and coloured with my Ecoline water colour pens .

My canvas was finished quite simply by gluing on the cone flower and adding a sentiment which I borrowed from the Doodle Art Lillius stamp set .

Thank you for taking a look this week.  Although this looks like quite a complicated design when you first see it , the catalyst collage paper does most of the hard work. The catalyst collage papers work so well on different substrates it is so easy to achieve great results .

Sally CT - Oodles of Circles

 

Hi There! We have a new challenge over on the Bee Crafty Stamps Facebook group with a theme of circles. Here's how my circles journal page came together. 

I began by sponging some Broken China distress oxide ink down the centre of the pages. 

Next, I sprayed a circle dinkable with water, laid it onto the oxide ink and then mopped up the excess water with kitchen towel. 

Once this was dry, I added some Rainbow Bubbles catalyst collage paper on each side with matte medium. I left a gap on the right hand page for the next step. 

I cut out some circles from a sheet of the Circles and Butterflies Catalyst Collage paper and added them to the page, including in the gap I left on the right page.

I cut around the edge of the circles on the edge of the page. 

Using a posca pen and the dinkable from earlier, I added some more circles to the page. 

I used some of the circle stamps from Journaling essentials set 1, along with coordinating Distress Oxide inks to add some subtle stamping to the page.

On a separate sheet of card, I stamped half of the large gerbera and 3 small ones in black versafine clair ink. I coloured them using Dina Wakley gloss drops and cut them out. 

Finally, I added these and a wordy sticker sentiment to the pages using matte medium. 

Here are the finished pages once more.

Alison CT - Special Time of Year

Hi everyone today I'm sharing one last piece of inspiration for the hot colours challenge. 

To begin, I tore a piece of background paper, I had created using acrylic paints on my gelli plate, in to three strips. I used matte medium to adhere them to the page.

Then I blended spiced marmalade distress ink through the circles dinkable from set 3.

Next, I added picked raspberry distress ink directly on to the circle lattice dinkable from set 2 and sprayed it lightly with water. I then pressed this down on the page.

After this was dry, I added black texture paste through the dots dinkable from set 2.

I, then stamped the concentric circles mandala, from the Doodle Art Mandala set 1, on to some stamping tissue. I stamped three using Versafine Clair strawberry ink and three using Versafine Clair carrot ink. I tore the outafter using a wet paintbrush to apply a line of water around them. I stamped them on tissue so they would go over the edges of the card and texture paste without leaving gaps in them. 

I added them to the page using matte medium. 

Using Versafine Clair nocturne ink,  I stamped the mushrooms and pumpkins on a separate piece of card.  I coloured them with my colouring pencils, then cut them out.

I glued them to the page and used a brown watercolour pencil to add a shadow below them.

Finally, I added a sentiment from the Wordy Stickers Autumn B sheet.

Calee CT - Ice cream Dragonfly

 Hello , I’m here this week with another page using Palette colours . Week  34 colours are a lovely mix of pastels and brights  , colours my mum would call ice cream colours. This then is my ice cream dragonfly .

The first step was to gather together my inks and decide on big or small journal , as you can see I decided on my small 6x6 journal .

My first step was to layer some colour down on to my page . For this I chose 3 distress inks Picked raspberry ,Scattered straw and Tumbled glass this were applied with blending brushes and allowed to blend together slightly , I then added sone splashes of water and finally bolted.

Then next layer of background  was created using Dinkables from sets 15 and 12 and two more inks , distress oxide Fossilised Amber and distress ink Evergreen bough .

 

 Using the Art stamp A stitch in Time  and the Picked Raspberry ink I stamped on to my page , for this I didn’t use a stamping block , but just held the stamp in my hand , to create a  loose distressed image .

Having decided I would be adding the Doodle Art Dragonfly to my page , I used the small heart stamp from this set to add a chain of hearts down one side of my page which I coloured in with paint pens from the same colour palette .

Using the paint pens some lines and dots were doodled on to my page and my background finished with a stitched border in black fine liner pen .

I then stamped out the Doodle Art Dragonfly and 6 small leaves ,which were then coloured using inks from this weeks colour palette and highlighted with a white Posca pen 

After trying my dragonfly and leaves in various positions I finally decided to on this design and glued them in to position . It took a while  to decide on the sentiment for this page but finally found these on the Wordy sticker sheet 3B ,cutting them down a little I stuck them on and gave them a scribbled border .
