Caz DT - Simply Smooshing Faces!

PRODUCTS USED:

Bee Crafty faces stamps set

Distressed diamonds ink'able

HOW TO MAKE:

Realese some ink onto your glass mat by swiping the ink pads with light pressure. Spray the ink with water and likewise with a blank sheet of card, then swipe the card into the ink pools. Smooshing is such a simple way to get bespoke inky backgrounds in an instant.

Smooshed background ready to stamp into!

Using the faces stamp set called 'look', the art journal set & the sentiment from 'what works' I stamped out this design on to my background.

The impression wasn't immaculate every time but because of this card style I liked the added distress feel this bought to the card.

For a little bit more extra interest and depth I added some distress diamond details with a black soot distress ink and blender.

To finish I used an 8x8 scalloped card base, black card layer slightly smaller and then glued my finished design on top! 

Simply Smooshing is fun and easy to do, with funky, unpredictable results.

Sally DT - A shimmery tree card

 

Hi there! I had so much fun making this tree card I thought I'd do a step by step tutorial for it today.

I used 

A blank 15x15cm ivory card

A 14.5 square piece of watercolour card

Speckled Egg Distress Oxide spray

Peeled Paint Distress oxide ink

Inkables Skylines Horizon 1

Beau-tanicals -Large branch and tree set

Versafine Clair Pinecone ink

Easy frame circle inkable

I began by using the skyline inkable and peeled paint ink to make the foreground.

 Next I lightly sprayed the top part of the card with the speckled egg spray. In retrospect I should probably have done the spray first and the blending second as I needed to wipe away a few spots of ink from the green area.

Next I stamped the tree in the centre with the waterproof ink. Versafine, Versafine Clair and Archival are all suitable for this.

I place the circle inkable over the branches of the tree and used the mister to spray lightly with water.

I then sprinkled with the explosion powders

When this was dry I added a sentiment bottom right and edged the panel with more brown ink.

I attached it to the base card, but it didn't seem quite finished, so I looked through my doodle art stamps and found the hearts on the Doodle Art dragonfly set. I stamped them top right and used a translucent red glaze on them.

Jane DT - Tag Art

 Hello!

This week when I sat down to create a project for today's blog post I was really stuck as to what to make, so I decided to follow Bev's advice and went for a tag!...

As I was just going with the flow I didn't take any step by step photos but it was a fairly simple process.

1) I started by randomly choosing 2 distress oxide sprays,  I picked out twisted citron and spun sugar.  I made sure to dry between the layers so that I didn't get too much mixing.

2) Next I picked out 3 of my favourite stamp sets (stitch borders, numbers and coffee stains) and used archival inks to apply them to the tag.  I also added a bit of the twisted citron spray into the small circles using a brush.

3) Then I chose a sentiment to add and also a focal point from the butterflies collection with some thread under to lift it from the background.

This was fairly simple but I really enjoyed just choosing stamps I love and using them without over thinking.

Cut a piece of paper into a square (14 1/2cm)

Create the background by inking up the Scripted Bee with Versafine Clair Acorn but miss out the large bee, see photo… 

Add a few extra hexagons & stars freehand…

Cover the ink with clear embossing powder, remove excess & heat, then cool. 

Stamp the large Bee from the Bee Monarchy set in Fallen Leaves Versafine ink & emboss with clear powder… 

 Make sure the ink is dry before colouring the Bee with Distress Oxide Inks Frayed Burlap & Tumbled Glass… & die cut out. 

Next colour in a few hexagons, on the background, with Tumbled Glass … 

Ink up the circular skinny slim with Frayed Burlap around the edges, spritz with a fine mister (water) & place onto your card. Give the ink a few seconds to sink into the card… 

Add a few splatters of Frayed Burlap, smoosh some ink onto a craft mat, mist with water, use a brush to splatter.. 

Stamp the word Bee in Versafine Clair Acorn, heat emboss & die cut… 

Cut another square of card/paper in a soft blue (15cm) mat & layer onto a square Kraft card blank ( I cut down a 7x7 to 16.6 x 16.5)

Glue the word & bee onto your card using foam tape…

Caz DT - Crinkle distressed sunflower page

Well I'm back after a bit of a break due to moving home...

Loving being able to create again and for my come back project I've done a crinkle distress effect using the doodle art sunflower...

PRODUCTS USED:

Doodle art sunflower regular

Doodle art sunflower XL

Ticker tape 3

Distress oxide & spray - salvaged patina

Distress ink walnut stain

Archival ink - coffee & paradise teal

Pebeo mixtion relief

Gold foiling sheet

HOW TO MAKE:

Stamp out the sunflower and some of the background/border stamps from both the regular and XL set using archival coffee ink...

Stamp over the sunflower parts with the salvaged patina oxide...

Spritz with water & add splatters of the salvaged patina oxide spray...

Scrumple up the card panel to crease it and then blend walnut stain distress ink over the entire piece...

Spritz with water again to move the ink and then heat dry...

Mount onto a Kraft card backing...

Sponge on some of the mixtion relief paste, let it go clear & tacky...

Place a gold foil sheet over the top and rub to transfer the metallic foil...

Add a ticker tape sentiment stamped in paradise teal archival ink backed into Kraft. 

That's it, you're done

Sally DT - Journaling girl samples

 Hi There! I am here with my samples for the Journaling girl stamps that were on The Craft Store last Tuesday. You can find the stamp bundle here 

The first of my samples is a tag that was sprayed with Dina Wakely gloss sprays before adding 'Bev' and some Dylusions back chat stickers

The background of this one was painted with Dylusions shimmer paints and stamped with the arrow stamps. I added a heat embossed sentiment from Ticker tape 2 set.

The background of this one was made using the new D'inkables set (set 10) and distress ink. The word stamps are from Creativity words small.

I used some of the smaller stamps for this one over a distress oxide spray background. The brick pattern was made using the d'inkable from set 2.

I created a background using the smaller stamps and the cloud dinkable, then added the sentiment and Bev using 3d glue. The sentiment is from Small words.

For this last one I made a collage background using tissue and music paper that had been sprayed with gloss sprays and distress oxide sprays. I used a dinkable to add some hearts  then added Sam and Bev and a heat embossed sentiment created with the Typewriter Alpha .

Jane DT - Collage Journal Girls

 Hello!

On Thursday I did a Facebook live where I used the journaling girls along with the Dylusions collage paper to create some mix and match paper dolls, you can watch the live on replay by clicking on this link...

Once they were created I needed them to have their own journal page, so I created a page in the black Dina Wakley Media journal...

* I started by painting some Dina Wakley acrylic onto the page, adding water to help blend it out.  I used Ocean, Turquoise and Lime.

* Then I used the cloud d'inkable from the most recent set with white gesso...

* Next I doodled a border around the page with a black posca pen, and added some splatters using the same pen, before sticking the 3 paper dolls in place.

* After adding some shadows under the girls with a black scribble stick I chose one of the Bigger Back Chat stickers for the page, plus added my own ending to the sentiment!

* A final touch of white gel pen on some of the elements and the page was finished.

Here are my samples, using the ‘Sam’ set & boarders… 

I used the flower stamp & Versafine Clair Nocturne down the edge of a 6” x 4” card. Then cut to create a boarder, added a black piece of paper inside to make the flowers stand out & a sentiment. 

I used the large star Easy Frame & the new D’Inkables for this card.. along with Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron & Faded Denim Distress Oxides. 

Using a Gelli plate background I spread Texture Paste through the flower D’Inkable & sprinkled some embossing powders over. When dry added some heat, cooled & used a white pen to make it stand out… & added a sentiment. 

This was created using D’Inkables & Distress Oxides 

Stamped Sam 3 times & coloured using Ecoline Brush Pens .. 

Stamped, coloured (in Ecolines) & cut out Sam. Started the background with Bakewell Big One then used all the little extra stamps & borders set . 

I spreads texture paste through the brick wall 

6x6 Inkable, when dry I covered it in black Gesso. Then used various acrylic paints to create the brick, rubbing bits back to reveal the black underneath. 

I stamped & coloured the flowers & Sam & cut them out. The stars are from one of the DInkables (set 10) coloured with Moonlight Pens…
