Roar Shaker by CT Ann

 Roar Shaker

By CT Ann

I was given the challenge of creating something with the Rex stamp set. To make it a tad more interesting, why not make a shaker card I thought … here goes!

Stamp set: Tyrannosaurus Reg & XL

Distress Oxide Inks: Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo & Carved Pumpkin

Versafine Clair : Pinecone

Enamel Accents : Electric Lime

Acetate 5”x5”

White 8”x8” card / White 6”x6”  card

Brown (7”x7”) & white card

Sequins

Start with the 6”x6” card & die cut a circle (approximately 10cm across) out of the front of the card…

Place palms & leaves from both the regular & XL sets onto an acrylic slim. Ink up using a little of each Distress Oxide colours, stamp several times on a separate piece of card. Press a few different inks onto each leaf to create a more natural look…

When dry fussy cut the leaves out.

Next use a stamp platform & fix, with magnets, the die cut circle into place & position your Rex (regular) stamp.

Ink up Rex with one of the Mowed Lawn (you don’t have to cover the whole of the stamp) & press onto the circle, repeat with Peeled Paint & Vintage Photo. Then give the stamp a light spritz of water & stamp onto the image again, this gives a slight watercolour effect.

Let it dry a little ( you can cut more leaves out lol ) then ink up with Pinecone Versafine Clair to give definition.

Glue the circle onto the card, using the aperture to guide you position Rex…

I added some Enamel Accents to his eye.

Next add the leaves around the aperture using Distress Collage Medium, this gives you chance to move the leaves & creates layers…

Remember to leave space for your text.

When everything is dry (I left it overnight) add the Tyrannosaurus Rex text in Versafine Clair Pinecone…

You could leave the card as it is now…

However I decided to create a shaker card …

Cut the card in half, making the back (with Rex on) slightly smaller.

Cut a piece of acetate 5”x5”, wipe with an anti static bag, use a strong double sided tape & stick it to the back of the front half (with leaves on). Add some double sided foam tape onto the acetate, around the edges of the circle, making sure these no gaps..

Pour the sequins in carefully, remove the backing off the foam, line up the back half & stick together ..

tip : add some wet glue onto the foam this gives you a few moments to adjust the back half if need be..

Mat & layer onto a piece of brown card & glue onto your 8x8 card…

Thank you for stopping by… Ann xxx
