Hi , a couple of weeks ago I treated myself to a small black journal , which is something a bit different for me but when this month’s challenge theme - monochrome was announced, that was my inspiration to get busy .
The first step was to choose a catalyst card from set #3 which I tore diagonally across the centre and stuck down onto the bottom corner of my page .
I then used a white gel pen and black fine liner pen to add a stitched border around the edge of the page and on the leaves again using the opposite colours - black on white / white on black . I also drew some hearts and added some cross hatches to the background.
In my bit box I had a few stamped out clocks , and with the addition of some of the small cogs , I decided they would be perfect for the monochrome theme . Some fussy cutting gave this clock a more intricate feel and a little shading with a grey pencil gave the centre of the clock more depth.
My last addition to the clock was a coat of glossy accents to the centre of the clock ,to give a glassy feel and some dimension .
While this was drying I stamped out this sentiment from the Time is FREE set adding a few doodles to create a frame .
This is my finished monochrome page , the first in my new black journal . I’m pleased with how it turned out, as I am definitely a lover of lots of colour in my creativity , but it’s definitely good to challenge yourself sometimes and push out of your comfort zone.
Thank you for taking a look , hopefully I may have given you some inspiration to create a monochrome project.
Happy crafting
Calee
For this project I used -
A black ink pad , white gel pen , black fine liner and polychromo pencils and in my small black journal .
