Jane DT - Cone Flower Wood Block

 Hello!

This week I thought I would share a project that although it took a while to make was a really simple idea that I haven't done step by step photos for as it is mostly self explanatory...

I have a number of objects in my crafty stash ready for decorating and altering, so decided to use this wooden block house for this project.

First I painted the block with the Dina Wakley black gesso.

Next I stamped out a number of my cone flower stamps and the smaller accessory stamps using black archival ink onto the distress watercolour cardstock.

After cutting them out I coloured them all using the Ecoline brush pens and blending with my water brush.  When that was dry I added highlights with a white posca pen.

Finally after sticking them in place with glue gel I also added two of the sentiments from the stamp sets...

Floral tag by DT Ann

 Floral Tag

After seeing various talented people using the Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays I thought I’d give it a go.. still lots to learn but let’s face it we never do stop learning, do we....

MDF Tag

Inkables Big Ones Botanical Garden

Bee Monarchy Stamps & Dies

Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays

Ecoline Pens

Versafine Clair  Nocturne & Charming Pink

Micron Pen

Gesso, acrylic paint & texture paste

https://www.beecrafty.net/

Mask the bit of your art board tag that fits into the base (I used washi tape) & gesso the tag & base, dry & paint in dark shade of green, dry again.

Apply texture paste through Big Ones stencil, remove carefully & leave to dry.

Once your tag/paste is dry, spritz with Gloss Sprays, I used Cheddar, Turquoise, Fuchsia & White. I’d advise using either a large sheet of paper, used packaging or a box to do this on as it can get everywhere!! Again leave to dry.. this didn’t take very long.

Whilst it dries stamp 2 x small bees & one medium bee using Nocturne. Die cut the bees and stamp the word BEE in Charming Pink & die cut.

Colour the bees I used Ecoline Pens, 640 Bluish Green, Pastel Blue 508,Light Yellow 201,Yellow Ochre 227.

Next use your cleaned stencil & a Micron pen in black to trace a flower & add some doodles & a stem.

Glue your bees & flower to your tag, remove the washi & place tag onto stand...  add some bakers twine & your base.

Caz DT - Crackle courage ATC

MDF ATC
PRODUCTS USED:
White gesso
Black archival ink
Vintage photo distress spray
Tissue paper
Pearlywinks yellow spray
Embossing powder
Posca paint pens
Crackle paint

HOW TO MAKE:
Coat the ATC in white gesso for the base...

Then stamp the crackled paint background over the top in black archival ink...

Spritz with vintage photo distress ink...

Stamp and colour the flower, stem and leaf from Janes set...

Stamp and die cut the smallest bee from Bee monarchy set...

Get a small piece of tissue paper and stamp the crackled background onto it...

Spritz with yellow ink...

Now tear it into strips and glue onto the background using a gel medium/glue, this just added an extra layer of interest to the background...

There was a sticky residue so I decided to use a very subtle embossing powder to add some extra texture and combat the issue...

Then I cut and glued my images down, adding some posca paint pen detailing & a small word sentiment to finish the design...

For extra interest and to tie in with the crackled background, I added crackle paint onto the flower/bee/leaf etc...it dries to a sort of crazing effect.
That's it complete!

Sally DT - Sunflower greetings

I recently invested in some distress oxide sprays and so thought I would use them to make a background. Now I have to admit it isn't a big background making session, but I will experiment further when I get the chance.

First I sprayed a piece of mixed media card with crackling campfire, rustic wilderness and a bit of water.

I dried it with a heat tool and then splattered it with the same inks, some water and a little brushed corduroy

I left it to dry and stamped the regular sunflower onto watercolour card using versafine clair ink.

I coloured it with ecoline brush pens and cut it out.

Next I matted and layered the inky panel to the front of a 6 x 6" square card blank, before stamping some splatters from the same stamp set in crackling campfire, rustic wilderness and speckled egg distress oxides.

I stamped the sunflower onto the card so I had a clear idea of where I wanted to stick it down. This also allows for any bits that might have been cut off during the fussy cutting.

Finally I stuck down the sunflower and added a few spots of liquid pearls and jewel drops plus a few white pen highlights.

Here is a look at the finished card again. I have left it without a sentiment for now, as it could be a thinking of you, birthday or anniversary card.

I hope you are keeping safe and well.

 Thanks for looking!

Jane DT - Happy Birthday Flower Card

 Hello!

This week I thought I would make a card that used the least amount of 3D layers possible but still had a layered look!

1) I used a piece of watercolour card that measured 5 and a quarter inches square, then sprayed some Picked Raspberry distress oxide spray onto a block and added it to one corner of the card...

2) After I had made sure the first layer was dry I did the same again on a smaller block using the Wild Honey distress oxide spray...

3) Next I took the circles d'inkable and the Peacock Feathers distress inkpad and stenciled using a foam blending tool.  I also added a little bit more of the ink around three of the corners...

4) To create my focal image I stamped the flower from my 'Just Bloom' set using black Versafine Clair and heat embossed with clear powder.  To create a stalk I used a fine liner black pen then added the leaf from the set...

5) For the sentiment I chose one from the Everyday Sentiments 2 set (regular) and stamped directly onto the card in the same way as the flower...

6) To help the flower to stand out more from the background, I used Ecoline pens to colour then added white highlights with a posca pen...

7) Finally I added a layer of black card then stuck it all to the front of a 6" card blank...

MDF Leftovers... by DT Ann

MDF Leftovers ...

We all have leftovers be it mop ups, pieces of paper or MDF... I had a small box of pieces from past DT makes & a box of off-cuts I ordered from Bee Crafty. You may need a cuppa with this one ... I’ll try keep it short!!!

MDF pop outs, cogs, florals & dragonfly

Circle artboard

Gesso white & clear ( use matt medium or distress collage medium)

Distress Oxide Sprays.. stormy sky &frayed burlap

Distress Oxide Ink ... Salty Ocean

Quinacridone Gold paint

Art Balls or Textured Gel Medium

Heavy body Gel

Washi Tape

Gelli Roll pens

Gold wax

https://www.beecrafty.net/

Mask the base of the circular art board ( I used washi tape) & paint with white gesso, dry. Add washi tape in a “cross”, towards the bottom left of the circle. Cover in Matt medium/Collage/clear gesso & dry.

Start to arrange your pieces of MDF on the art board, I started with a ribbon reel, added an MDF
circle, use buttons to elevate pieces.. once you’ve sorted your layout take a photo (if possible) to refer to,  then glue together with a heavy body gel. Leave to dry, then paint the whole thing with white gesso.

Add some texture I used art balls, you could use a gritty texture paste or one with glass beads in... dry.

When dry spritz with Distress Oxides Sprays, leave to dry. Add more layers of spray to create depth. Once dry add some splatters of quinacridone gold paint & salty ocean ink (put ink on a mat & spritz with water). Use a brush to add emphasis in different areas.. Don’t forget to add your stand to your art board!!

Colour an MDF dragonfly I used a combination of paint & Sakura Gelli Roll Pens, glue to project.

When your project is dry add some wax to hi light all the textures.

That wasn’t too bad was it! It’s a lovely project to do over a few days, I hope you will give it a go ..
