Marleen DT - Hexagon

Hey again bloggers..

Wednesday again and im back with another bit of inspiration for
BeeCrafty..

Todays card was made for the last BeeCrafty show on Hochanda. Bev had the safari animals on, but on the list provided (to the DT) of goodies we could use was the Easy Frames. I love those stencils.. Find the full selection in the STORE..

So for this card I used the Hexagon, outie.. I simply lay down the stencil and used distress ink through.I remeoved the stencil and then took a selection of the Dinkables, layed them over the ink and strayed with water.I mopped some of the water up with a paper towel, removed the Dinkables and sprayed a bit more water.. just to make sure the colours really smudged. Once my background was dry again, I went back in with the Dinkables, but this time used a white gel pen and drew some of the pattern through. I then took a black gel pen and hand drew around the Hexagons. I finished with my greeting, heat embossed with white embossing powder on to black card and a black mat.

And that is it for today. Thank you for popping by and for any comments left behind.

Marleen DT - Together we so rock. 2 tone embossing tecnique

Hello Bloggers..

A quick card for today.. A friend of mine asked me just the other night if I by any chance could whip her up a quick card she could give to  her husband. She had a surprise for him and wanted a card to go with it. All she asked was that it was music themed..
I knew strait away which stamps to use.. The music ones from BeeCrafty of course..
The Bee's has a fantastic range of music themes stamps. check them out HERE.

Right, forgive the bit weird selection of pics lol.. I did my best to try and capture the magic of this card..

First thing first.. the background.. its a play with distress ink in a couple of the red colours and water..

I then did all my stamping with black versa fine.. Versafine, I personally find is best of this tecnique due to its speed of drying and its crisp black colour.

I didnt rush to add the silver embossing powder, I wanted to make sure some of the ink had started to dry already.. Where the powder came on solid, I rubbed a bit of it off just with a finger. (The finger is the best tool for this job as you dont want to brush of the full coat of powder, just a bit of it)
The key (and the tricky part) is to add only enough powder to "outline/enhance" the image. You dont want a solid embossed image.

The magic of this tecnique is that depending on how the light falls on the card, you either have a silver image or a black image.

Once I heat set the powder I matted and layered my card with black card, just to really make it all pop.

Right thats it really.. I love revisiting older stamps I have in my stash and trying out new tecniques and this one came in handy when a friend needed a wee favour.
That is it for today. Thank you for popping by and for any comments left behind.

Marleen DT - Wild Flower Hochanda Samples.

Hey Bloggers..

Our Sam was on Hochanda yesterday with the Wild Flower stamp collection. The Bee's have added a few more stamps to this collection and its now only even better.

You can find them and all the other goodies in the BeeCrafty STORE.

Here are the samples I made for this show:
This one is distress ink blended in a rainbow effect and then just plain stamping on top. I have cut up some of my greetings to I can use the words seperate from each other. If you dont want to cut up your stamps, just mask over the parts you dont want to ink, remove the mask and stamp :-)

This art board, I cant take all the credit. It was inspired my my teamie Charlee. When these brick art boards landed Charlee was the first to add texture to hers. I absolutely loved her idea and admit I totally stole it.. I'll link to hers HERE so you can see the original idea.

Anyway.. I used a grit texture paste to create the texture, I just added a wee bit of paste to the bricks and once dry I used a mixture of Distress sprays and Lustre Luxe to get the background colours.

I stamped my WildFlower and heat set with black embossing powder and finished with a wee sentiment from the friendship collection.

This one was really fun to make.. I started by stamping my moon and the flowers in Archival Ink. Just to make sure the stamping would stay put and not smudge when I added colour.

All my colours was added as sprays. I have several kinds of sprays from several companies, but my favorites are my Distress ones. I finised with a home made Lustre Luxe spray to add the top coat of shimmer..

This one is Oxide inks. The yellows are added with the blending tool and I also used oxides to stamp the moon and flower. I finished by stamping my greeting wiht versafine black ink.

An MDF tag. Went strait on with Oxide and once fully dry I stamped and heat set with black embossing powder. I added a few bats using the wee Dinkable and a black pen.

And last but not least.. Once again Oxide added with the blending tool in a faded effect. I stamped the moon in the same colour and  used the star Dinkable with a white gel pen. I also drew around the moon to male sure it realy stood out.. I finished by stamping a selection of the wild flowers.

And that is it for today. Thank you for popping by and for any comments left behind.

Marleen DT - New Art Stamps

Hello dear Blogger Friends..

Im late today with my post.. It dawned on me at 3.30pm today that it was wednesday and my turn to share for BeeCrafty.. And by then it was mummy duty.. Sooooo better late then never I suppose but I dont like messing things up..

Anyway.. Did you see Bev on Hochanda yesterday?? She had some brand new art stamps to show.. They are really amazing.. Very different, nothing like I've seen before..
They are really class so DO pop over in the STORE to have a nosy at them..

Sadly due to the snow and dear storm Emma, my stamps only landed the day before the show. Im used to having to work fast as I live in Ireland, (the rest of the team and the Bee's are in the UK), so delivery time and return time is longer for me, but this time not even my super speediest speed was gonna make it lol..
But I was still gonna have a play and I have made a couple of projects I want to share..

This one is distress ink, more distress ink through a Dinkable and then just stamped the Art stamp and greeting strait on. Matted and layered and voila..
This one is Lustre Luxe on a MDF tag. the more I play with these Lustre Luxe the better Im getting at blending them. They arent meant for blending as such so must admit Im loving the results im getting. Anyway, more Lustre through another Dinkable and then just stamping and black embossing powder..
A very simple one this one is.. Just a fade of distress ink, distress ink through Dinkables and stamping..

This one is my favorite of the samples I made. I made a circle card and used distress ink to create the "sun" look. I think it looks a bit like a night sky. I was inspired by the stamp for this one. The fact that the stamp can be turned any direction you'd like, the circle card can also be turned as you wish..
I used Lustre Luxe through the Dinkables to get a bit of shimmer and shine..

And that is it for today. Thank you for popping by and for any comments left behind.

Marleen DT - More Egyptian cards

Hello again Bloggers..

For todays post for BeeCrafty, I want to share a few more cards Ive made using the amazing Egyptian stamps. I just love love love this series of stamps.

This one.. well I cant take all the credit for it.. This card is made using ideas form 2 of my teamies samples.. Lorre-Ann made a card with the background, only hers was black on white, but I loved it so I decided to try it out.. Paula however, made a card with gold embossing on black card stock and I loved that too. So I combined their ideas and came up with this. Do pop over on the DT blog to see all the girls amazing samples.

Anyway, this one is made with lots of stamping with versa mark and heat setting it with gold embossing powder. I did the same with the sentiment. The Life symbol I stamped in versamark, heatset also with gold and then fuzzy cut. Once cut I added another 2 layers of embossing powder to give it real dimention.
This one isnt much different really. Just stamping with versamark, heat setting with gold embossing powder and then smothering the whole thing with distress ink.
And once again the same.. More embossing powder and distress ink..
I made my mats the same way too. Just cut the mat to the right size and then added gold embossing powder around the egdes..

And that is it for today. Thank you for popping by and for any comments left behind.

Marleen DT - Hochanda Samples

Hello Bloggers..

Once again my turn to share some inspiration for BeeCrafty and today I want to share my samples for the recent show on Hochanda.

Did you see the show?? Arent those goodies amazing??
We are history nuts in our house and the egyptian history is on top of the list here. My son (12) sat next to me when I made my samples and told me the meaning of all the symbols.

Anyway.. you can find all the goodies over in the BeeCrafty STORE so do pop over for a good nosy..

Here are my samples:
(I must appologise for the bad photoes. I had to take the pics late in the evening and lighting was terrible)

This one is distress ink and gold embossing powder. I then took the hieroglyphics strip stamp and stamped with versamark ink and added mica powder on top. Once the mica has been buffed a bit it shows when tipped in the light.

This one is Lustre Luxe on an MDF artboard. I stamped my background with distress oxide. (please note the oxide WILL dry on the Lustre BUT can be rubbed off with a bit of effort) all the other symbols I stamped in black Archival ink which will dry and stay put.
The little strip going across the artboard, is just a card strip with added Lustre Luxe. The symbols have been stamped on shrink plastic and shrunk. I got this idea from my teamie Alisa. You may have seen she is the queen of shrink plastic. She makes amazing jewelry using it.

This one is made as the black one above. Gold embossing, distress ink and mica powder on top of versamark ink.

This one is my favorite I think. The background is made by repeatedly stamping the strip of hieroglyphics in distress ink and then covering the whole background in clear embossing powder. I did the same with the symbol stamp as well, only I fuzzy cut it before adding the powder. I made the mat and y sentiment also using distress ink so it all match in colour.

This one is very simple. Background is stamped with distress oxide ink and then simply stamped the bigger stamps in black on top.

This one is also l;ike that first one, the black one. Simple gold embossing powder and distress ink.

And that is it for today. Thank you for popping by and for any comments left behind.

Marleen DT - Helraldic Samples

Hey guys..

Its once again wednesday and my turn to share some inspiration for BeeCrafty..
Today I want to share the samples I made for Bev's recent show live from the NEC.
Did you go to the NEC?? Was it amazing?? I have never been to the NEC but its a dream of mine.. Maybe when my kids gets a bit older?

Anyway, samples... Sadly, mine didnt make it to the screen. Stamps landed with me in Ireland too late so even though samples was made same day as I recieved the stamps, there wasnt enough time to get them returned in time.. It happens, post here in Ireland can be a bit of a.. challenge.. lol

But.. I still loved making my samples and although I already shared them on my facebook and in the BeeCrafty Facebook Group, I still wanted to share them here with a few words on how I made them.

This one is a wee bit hard to show off. Basically I made the card with distress ink and stamped the wee crowns and used the alphabet to stamp "BeeCrafty". I then made an accetate overlay that matched the card size (I folded a wee sliver to attatch it on the back, so it folds around the card), I stamped the helmet with archival ink onto the accetate (please not it takes quite sometime to fully dry) and once fully dry, attached it to the card.

This one is all about the Lustre Luxe.. I coloured the art board with the Golden Gate Lustre Luxe and I used the Honey Pearl Lustre Luxe through the Shattered Glass Dinkable. I put more Golden Gate Lustre Luxe through the Feather Dinkable.

I then stamped my Heraldic images on to white card and fuzzy cut them. I then used the Moon Stone Lustre Luxe as a gilding wax and added, with my finger tip, a wee bit over the images.
I added the images with silicone glue to add a bit of dimention.

This one is very simple, its just distress ink with stamping and black heat embossing. I made the wee banner with the alphabet and more distress ink. I finished with a few water splashes.

This one is my favorite I think. I come from Denmark and have always been a royalist and very proud of our royal family. This set of stamps just scream "royal" at me hence how this card came together.

Its a simple matter of distress ink, water splashed and stamping. And I just finished with a few gems.

This one is a play on a tecnique I have done several times now. I have a YOUTUBE HERE on how I make it. The strips are coloured with Lustre Luxe and I stamped with archival.
You need a permenant ink to stamp on the Lustre Luxe.

And then this one.. Last one.. Again image screams royal lol.. Its made a s the blue royal one above, simple distress ink, heat embossed with black and water splashes. I used purple as this too is a very royal colour. A greeting could always be added later if needed.

And that is it for today. Thank you for popping by and for any comments left behind.

Marleen DT - Rainbow scull

Hey bloggers
and welcome to my blog.

Today is my turn to share a bit of inspiration for

Todays card was actually my daughters idea.. Long story short, I was stuck for an idea for my digital design team, and my girl suggested making a rainbow.. The background I used today was my first play and just didnt look for the intended card, but I then teamed it with my tophat scull stamp and bingo, we had a winner.. I also used one of the cog stamps. Find them all in the STORE.
Its a very simple card, but guess that is what I do best lol
I used distress inks but I guess you can use what ever inks you want.
I used the following colours:
Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard seed, twisted citron and mermaid lagoon.

I started in the middle with the yellow, and then worked my way out on either side letting the colours overlap a little bit.
I then stamped my scull stamp and heat embossed in black. I also made a mask of the scull on post-it notes while I had the stamp out.

I then masked of the scull and stamped my cogs around it. I didnt heat emboss the cogs as I didnt want them as bright as my scull.

And that is it really. A very simple card, but very colourful.
