Jane DT - 'Grungy Butterflies' Card

Hello!

As we head towards the new year I thought that I would take the opportunity to start creating a collection of cards for different occasions that would then be ready for when they are needed.  As birthdays seem to be the main kind of card required I decided to start there...

* First I chose a selection of different butterfly stamps (all of which are linked below) and stamped them onto a piece of watercolour card using versamark ink.  Then I heat embossed them using white powder.

* Next I used some watercolour paints to colour the card, adding extra colour inside the butterflies.

* To create extra interest in the background I used the Script, Texture Borders and Texture Circles stamp sets with distress inks (Picked Raspberry & Wild Honey) and then used Archival Watering Can for extra depth.  I also used the grey around the edges to frame the card...

* After that I stamped the Large Butterfly onto white vellum and embossed with white powder.  These were then cut out and layered up.  They now looked a bit too white against the grungier background so I added a touch of the grey archival to blend them more.

* Finally I added a sentiment and matted and layered the card up.

Here are the products I used:

* Art Stamps - Large Butterfly
* Art Stamps - Dragonfly and Butterfly Set
* Art Stamps - Birds and Butterflies Set 1
* Background, Textures & Borders - Script
* Background, Textures & Borders - Texture Borders
* Background, Textures & Borders - Texture Circles
* Wordage - Everyday Sentiments 2 (regular)
* Distress Ink Pads
* White Embossing Powder

Hopefully this is the start of more cards for my collection!

Thank you for looking and happy crafting.

Karen DT- Getting Christmassy with Doodle Art

Morning and a very happy Boxing Day xx

Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas Day? I was lucky to spend it with my beautiful family xx

I've been getting a bit festive with my Doodle Art sets. These make such fun and festive Christmas cards and here are a selection of cards for today's weekly Bee Crafty blog post xx

Products used:
Doodle Art sets: most of them!! 🤣
Distress Oxides
Versafine

I first used my acrylic block as a guide, then stamped my Robin, and masked it off, before applying my background.

To create my backgrounds on today's cards, i applied Distress Oxides to an acrylic block. I then spritzed it with water and stamped the block direct to the card blank. Once dry I removed my Robin mask.

All my images were stamped in Black Onyx Versafine as I like the bold, contemporary feel of this look. I decided not to colour the images in as I felt it fitted in with this style.

I hope you enjoyed looking through today's post. I'll see you again soon.

Jane DT - Happy Christmas!

Hello!

I hope you have all been enjoying the 20 days of Christmas projects that Bee Crafty have been sharing over on the Facebook group, if you are not a member do please have a look on Facebook, search for Bee Crafty and the page and group should come up.

As this is my final blog post before Christmas I thought I would share a Christmas card to wish you all the best for the season...

The background was created using distress inks in Festive Berries and Crushed Olive.   I used a blending tool to add the colour straight onto the card then through the distressed harlequin d'inkable.

To create some text for the background I collected the words and sentiments from a variety of the Yuletide Doodle stamps and arranged them onto an acrylic block.  These were then stamped together onto the card with Versamark ink and heat embossed in gold...

Using both the regular and XL Doodle Poinsettia stamps I inked them with black versafine then embossed with clear powder, this was repeated twice for each flower I wanted.  These were then cut out so they could be layered up and coloured using Faber-Castell Pitt pens...

Finally I stamped one of the sentiments onto black card and embossed with gold powder before cutting out with a banner die.

Here are the products I used:

* Doodle Poinsettia Stamps - Regular and XL
* Yuletide Doodle Stamps
* Distressed Harlequin D'inkable
* Distress Ink Pads

The Yuletide Doodle stamps are currently on sale so a great time to get hold of them!!

I wish everyone the best Christmas you can hope for and see you on the other side!

Happy crafting,

Jane xx

Jane DT - 'Winter Flowers' Journal Page

Hello!

Today on the Buzzy Goings on at Bee Crafty blog I am sharing how I developed the layers of an art journal page...

I wanted to create a really layered page but without any extra dimension to make my journal too bulky.  I started by creating the colour using distress oxide ink pads (Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers).  For part of this I smooshed the ink directly onto the page and then spritzed with water, to also add a more speckled and splattered effect I put some ink onto acetate, added water and then pressed this more accurately to the page...

Where the colours mixed it also created a lovely purple tone, so pink, blue and purple became the theme of the page. However I was also finding this a bit too bright so used my brayer with white gesso to lighten the page...

At this point I decided that these colours would make a good winter background so decided to go along with the idea.  My next layer was to use some stencils with the same distress oxides - Snowflake 1 Inkable and the Snowflakes D'inkable...

Next I wanted to use some stamps and chose the Yuletide Doodle Art Snowflake set.  To create a crisper image I used archival ink pads that matched the colour scheme.  Once I had stamped I coloured the larger stamps using Pitt Pens...

Again I felt that the page was getting a bit too bright so I used white gesso once more but this time through the Circles D'inkable...

I still hadn't decided what my focal images were going to be, but when I looked at how busy the background had become I felt that silhouette stamps would be good to act as a contrast and stand out well against it.  I used some of the Beautanicals sets with black archival ink then added some glitter glue as frost on the flowers...

Finally I chose a sentiment that I stamped directly onto the page...

Here are the products that I used:

* Beautanicals - Wildflower 2
* Beautanicals - Teasels
* Yuletide Doodle Art - Snowflake
* Wordage - Unloved Flower
* Inkable - Snowflake 1
* D'Inkables - Snowflakes
* D'inkables - Circles
* Distress Oxide Ink Pads

Thank you for looking and happy crafting!

Karen DT - Live Art

Hello lovely crafters

Been playing around with ATC's for my weekly DT blog for Bee Crafty, using the beautiful
Style Wire Hearts as the focal point. I've not done many ATC's before but thought I'd have a bit of fun xx

Also used:
Distress Oxides
Ticker Tape 2
Dinkables
Retro Dots and Dash
Black pen

To begin I cut my ATC's from white card, 2.5"x3.5"
I applied some Distress Oxides to my glass mat, spritzed with water, then smooshed my card around. I did this several times, drying in between each layer

I stamped the hearts and dots and dash stamps randomly on/off the edge of the ATC's.
Using a fine line pen, I drew some doodles within the heart frames.

Using the same Distress Oxides I blended randomly through the Distressed Harlequin and Brick Wall Dinkables.
I drew a wiggly frame around my ATC'S.

To complete I stamped, cut out and adhered my Ticker Tape sentiments.

I had a lot of fun making these and I hope to be back with some more.
